The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) has amended the state’s standing order for Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine administration.

Per DHSS guidelines, Missourians who received the Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine can receive a third dose at least six months after the initial two-dose series, based on CDC guidance as follows:

•   People 65 years of age and older and residents in long-term care facilities should receive a third dose;

•   People aged 50 to 64 years with underlying medical conditions should receive a third dose;

•   People aged 18 to 49 years with underlying medical conditions may receive a third dose;

•   People aged 18 to 64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission

     because of occupational or institutional setting (e.g. frontline medical workers, teachers and

     first responders) may receive a third dose.

At this time Pfizer remains the only vaccine approved for the booster or third shot.
